Free Health Camp Organised by Sewa Bharati at Pakabetbari, Over 300 Beneficiaries Benefit
BARPETA, May 17: Emphasising the spirit of community service, Sewa Bharati organised a free health check-up camp on Sunday at Pakabetbari in Assam’s Barpeta district. More than 300 people from the locality and nearby areas benefited from the initiative, where free medical consultations and medicines were provided.
A team of doctors and healthcare volunteers participated in the camp and offered medical assistance throughout the day. Residents, including elderly people, women and children, attended the programme in large numbers to avail themselves of the healthcare facilities.
The medical team conducted primary health screenings for common illnesses, blood pressure-related issues, seasonal diseases and other general health concerns. Doctors also provided medical advice and prescribed medicines, which were distributed free of cost to patients.
Doctors who participated in the camp included Dr Nilkamal Sarania, Dr Sweety Das, Dr Anjan Krishna Das, Dr Jitendra Rai, Dr Bhargav Gogoi, Dr Utpal Das, Dr Dhyan Jyoti Kashyap and Dr Bijit Borah. The programme was led by Dr Kamal Krishna Das, President of the Barpeta District Committee of Sewa Bharati.
Several MBBS student volunteers also assisted in managing the camp. The volunteers included Lakhyajit Borah, Anuraag Chutia, Srijana Gogoi, Manees Bora and Ujwal Saha, who helped with patient registration, medicine distribution and coordination.
Speaking on the occasion, organisers said the objective of the camp was to provide basic healthcare support to people in rural and semi-urban areas where timely medical services are often limited. They added that similar welfare programmes focused on healthcare and public awareness would continue to be organised in different parts of the district.
Local residents appreciated the initiative and thanked the doctors and volunteers for arranging the free medical services. Beneficiaries said such programmes are especially helpful for economically weaker sections by reducing healthcare expenses and improving access to medical consultation.
