Rumours Trigger Long Queues at Fuel Stations in Hyderabad; Authorities Assure Stable Supply

Hyderabad, April 27, 2026:

Reports of a possible fuel shortage led to long queues at petrol stations across Hyderabad on Monday, as motorists rushed to refuel following unverified information circulating on social media.

Heavy congestion was observed in areas such as Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and Mehdipatnam. Several fuel stations temporarily suspended operations or displayed “No Stock” notices due to increased demand, though officials indicated that the disruption was largely caused by panic buying rather than an actual supply shortage.

Authorities and petroleum dealers stated that adequate stocks of petrol and diesel are available and that supply chains remain stable. They urged citizens to avoid hoarding and rely on official updates.

Meanwhile, some districts in Andhra Pradesh have reported localized fuel supply issues in recent days, reportedly linked to logistical delays in transportation and distribution. However, officials have not indicated any widespread shortage affecting the region as a whole.

Industry observers note that sudden spikes in demand can temporarily disrupt distribution, even when overall supply remains sufficient. They emphasized that panic buying can create short-term imbalances at retail outlets.

Officials have assured that fuel supplies are being replenished regularly and that the situation is expected to stabilize. Citizens have been advised to purchase fuel as per normal requirements and avoid unnecessary stockpiling.
