”The Indian film ‘Saltanat’ has been announced, featuring a collaboration between directors and actors from the Nepali film industry, presented by UMR Productions.
Based on a political conflict, the film is being hailed as the first major international collaboration project for Nepali filmmakers. It will be co-directed by Sapendra Dhital and Tabrez Alam. Sapendra Dhital, who is active in both the Nepali and international film industries, brings extensive experience from previous foreign projects, which the production team expects will give the film a world-class edge.
Actor Umar Khan, who recently impressed audiences in ‘Hostel 3,’ will star as the lead, while Sapendra Dhital will take on the role of the antagonist. The film also features actresses Sitoshna KC and Fiza Khan, alongside other prominent Indian actors.
With filming planned for Lucknow, Mumbai, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, ‘Saltanat’ is expected to take cinematic cooperation between Nepal and India to new heights. According to the production team, the project centers on a contemporary political storyline and is designed to expand the international reach of Nepali cinema while opening doors to new possibilities within the Indian film industry.”
