Ispat Nagari Meghnad Saha Madhyamik Vidyalaya Pays Patriotic Tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on Paschim Banga Diwas
Durgapur: The spirit of patriotism, pride and remembrance filled the campus of Ispat Nagari Meghnad Saha Madhyamik Vidyalaya as the school observed Paschim Banga Diwas with a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee — the visionary son of Bengal whose courage, foresight and dedication played a historic role in shaping the destiny of West Bengal.
The programme began with the soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram”, awakening a deep sense of love and respect for the motherland. Students and teachers came together to remember a leader who dedicated his life to protecting the cultural identity, dignity and future of Bengal while working tirelessly for the unity and integrity of India.
The celebration focused on the remarkable contribution of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee during one of the most crucial phases of Bengal’s history. At a time when the future of Bengal was uncertain, Dr. Mukherjee strongly advocated for safeguarding the interests, identity and aspirations of the people of western Bengal. Through his political efforts and unwavering determination, he played an important role in the movement that led to the creation of West Bengal as a separate province, ensuring that a part of Bengal’s cultural and historical heritage remained connected with India.
Students paid tribute to his vision of a Bengal that would progress as an integral part of a strong and united Bharat. They remembered Dr. Mukherjee not only as a political leader but as a patriot who placed the nation’s interest above everything else.
The most memorable part of the celebration was the Nukkar Natak (street play) presented by students in the local area. Through emotional dialogues and powerful performances, students portrayed the historic challenges faced by Bengal and highlighted Dr. Mukherjee’s determination and leadership in shaping the future of West Bengal. The performance became a moving tribute to his sacrifice, courage and devotion towards the motherland.It is notable to mention an Assistant teacher of the institution Sri Somnath Sinha Babu written and directed the Nukkar natak on streets of Durgapur
A Quiz Competition was also organised by Sri Milan Kumar Das an Assistant Teacher of the institution, focusing on Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s life, his contributions as an educationist, statesman and nationalist leader, and his role in Bengal’s history. Students enthusiastically participated, demonstrating their respect and curiosity towards the legacy of this great son of Bengal.
A special Yoga session coordinated by the teachers Sri Dipak Ranjan Maji and Sri Dipankar Malik, added another meaningful dimension to the programme, spreading the message of discipline, strength and character building among students — values that Dr. Mukherjee always believed were essential for creating responsible citizens.
The celebration concluded with the inspiring vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” — a dream of unity, harmony and national progress. Students took inspiration from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s life and pledged to contribute towards building a stronger and more prosperous India.
The observance of Paschim Banga Diwas at Ispat Nagari Meghnad Saha Madhyamik Vidyalaya was more than a school event; it was a heartfelt tribute to a patriot whose efforts helped shape the identity of West Bengal and whose vision continues to inspire generations.
