In a shocking revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has accused a terror group of plotting to overthrow the Indian government and impose Sharia law following the deadly blast near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10. The incident, which claimed the lives of 11 individuals and left numerous others injured, has rattled the nation and raised questions about security in the capital.
According to the NIA, the explosion, which occurred close to the Red Fort metro station, was a deliberate act of terrorism orchestrated by a group linked to Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, a splinter faction of Al Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent. This group has been under scrutiny since it was designated a terrorist organization by the Indian government in June 2018, following its involvement in various violent activities across the region.
The NIA’s investigation led to a chargesheet being filed in a Delhi court on Thursday, naming a total of 10 individuals as suspects in the blast. Among them, Umar Un Nabi, who is believed to have been the driver of the vehicle that detonated, was identified through DNA analysis. Tragically, Nabi was killed in the explosion, marking a grim end to his alleged role in this heinous act.
Alongside Nabi, the nine other accused include Aamir Rashid Mir, Jasir Bilal Wani, Muzamil Shakeel, Adeel Ahmed Rather, Shaheen Saeed, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay, Soyab, Bilal Naseer Malla, and Yasir Ahmad Dar. The NIA contends that these individuals collaborated with Nabi to execute a plan that posed a significant threat to national security.
The Union government had swiftly classified the blast as a terrorist incident two days after it occurred, highlighting the urgency with which authorities are addressing the situation. As investigations continue, the NIA is working to uncover further details about the group’s connections, their operational methods, and the extent of their network within and outside India.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the persistent challenges posed by extremist elements within the country. With the festive season approaching, security measures are likely to be intensified throughout Delhi to prevent any further acts of violence.
