Srinagar, April 21:
Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. G.V. Sandeep Chakravarthy on Tuesday stated that Jammu and Kashmir Police will intensify its crackdown on drug trafficking by not only arresting peddlers but also attaching their properties to dismantle the narcotics network operating in the city.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti at Tagore Hall, the SSP said that nearly 15 to 20 FIRs have been registered against drug peddlers over the past 10 days, indicating a sustained anti-drug campaign.
“We will not only arrest drug peddlers but also seize their properties to dismantle the ecosystem,” he said, reiterating the department’s commitment to tackling the drug menace in Srinagar.
He also noted that cultural and spiritual events play a role in promoting communal harmony and encouraging youth engagement in positive activities, adding that police will continue to support such initiatives.
Regarding the annual Darbar Move, the SSP said a comprehensive security plan has been put in place to ensure the safe movement of employees from Jammu to Srinagar. He assured that adequate security arrangements will be maintained around government offices during this period.
