The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has categorically rejected a recent news report alleging that the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) has suspended its operations in West Bengal just weeks ahead of the crucial Assembly elections. The party described the claims as “completely baseless” and a “deliberate attempt to sow confusion” among the electorate.
On Sunday, the TMC issued a statement addressing the report which suggested that I-PAC had paused its activities in the state for a period of 20 days. The political consultancy, which played a pivotal role in the TMC’s successful campaign during the 2021 Assembly elections, has been instrumental in strategizing for the upcoming polls as well.
The ruling party reassured its supporters, stating that the I-PAC team remains actively involved in the campaign efforts across West Bengal. “The people of Bengal are wise enough to see through such malicious attempts and will respond democratically,” the TMC asserted, reinforcing its belief in the electorate’s discernment amidst the ongoing political scene.
The controversy surrounding I-PAC’s operations arose following a report from the Deccan Herald, which linked the alleged pause to recent actions taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering investigation linked to an alleged coal smuggling racket in the state. The report indicated that members of I-PAC’s team in Bengal had received notifications about the supposed halt, raising questions about the consultancy’s role in the upcoming elections.
However, the TMC has taken a firm stance against these allegations, emphasizing that their campaign machinery is operating smoothly and that the party is fully equipped to tackle any challenges ahead. This response comes amid heightened scrutiny of political campaigns and the strategies employed by various parties as they gear up for what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested electoral battle in West Bengal.
As the political landscape heats up, the Trinamool Congress aims to reassure its voter base and maintain momentum in their campaign strategy. With the elections drawing near, the party’s commitment to its grassroots efforts and engagement with the electorate will be key to navigating the complex political environment.
