Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Veterinary College Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati.
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office and secrecy to the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers. Several senior political leaders attended the ceremony, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The new cabinet also included ministers from alliance partners such as the Asom Gana Parishad and the Bodoland People’s Front.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was previously associated with the Indian National Congress, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2015 and later became convenor of NEDA.
The swearing-in ceremony witnessed tight security arrangements and the presence of a large number of supporters and party workers.
