Mumbai:
Three people lost their lives in a road accident at Marine Drive in South Mumbai during the early hours of Monday, police said.
According to officials, the incident occurred around 5:40 am near the Parsi Gymkhana junction on NS Road. A motorcycle, reportedly moving at high speed, allegedly jumped a traffic signal and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The injured — the motorcyclist, his pillion passenger, and the pedestrian — were taken to GT Hospital, where they were declared dead.
The pedestrian has been identified as Kishor Pandurang Lamne (66), a resident of Girgaon. The motorcyclist was identified as Krishna Uday Desai (19), from Mulund. The identity of the woman passenger is yet to be confirmed, and she is estimated to be in her early to mid-30s.
Police officials stated that the rider is suspected to have been driving at excessive speed, which may have led to the collision. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered at the Marine Drive Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities are examining the circumstances of the incident to determine the exact cause.
