“Rythu Declaration First, Celebrations Later”: BJP Criticizes Congress Over ‘Farmers’ Week’
Gollapelli:
BJP District Official Spokesperson Marrepelli Satyam criticized the Congress government over the celebration of “Farmers’ Week,” raising questions about the implementation of promises made under the Rythu Declaration.
According to Satyam, the Congress party had made several commitments to farmers ahead of the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections, including financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa, support for tenant farmers and agricultural labourers, and a bonus on paddy procurement. He alleged that many of these promises are yet to be fulfilled.
He also claimed that the proposed farm loan waiver and adequate supply of fertilizers during key agricultural seasons have not been fully implemented. Additionally, he raised concerns over procurement issues, delayed insurance claims, and alleged gaps in soil testing and compensation for farmers affected by natural calamities.
Satyam further criticized the nomination-based appointments in cooperative societies, calling for elected representation instead.
The BJP leader stated that celebrating Farmers’ Week without addressing these concerns could lead to growing dissatisfaction among farmers.
The Congress government has not yet issued an official response to these allegations.
The meeting was attended by Mandal President Chevulamaddi Shekhar, BJYM District Leader Lakkakula Venkatesh, Mandal General Secretary Doosa Prashanth, and other party leaders.
