State Mourning Declared in Karnataka Following Minister D. Sudhakar’s Death
D. Sudhakar, Karnataka’s Minister for Planning and Statistics, has passed away, following which the state government has announced a three-day state mourning across Karnataka.
As part of the mourning observance, the National Flag is being flown at half-mast in Shivamogga district. Flags at major government buildings, including the District Commissioner’s Office, Zilla Panchayat, and Taluk Panchayat offices, have been lowered as a mark of respect. During the mourning period, the government will also refrain from conducting official celebrations and public ceremonies.
D. Sudhakar, who also served as the MLA of Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, had been admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru for surgery related to a mandibular condition. During treatment, he reportedly developed a lung infection and was later shifted to KIMS Hospital in Electronics City for advanced care. Despite continued medical treatment, he passed away on Sunday morning.
