Tarakeswar, Hooghly, June 20, 2026: West Bengal Day was observed across the state on Saturday with programmes organized by schools, colleges, madrasahs, and government institutions.
Educational institutions conducted cultural programmes, debates, essay competitions, rallies, and exhibitions highlighting various aspects of West Bengal’s history, culture, literature, science, and social development. Teachers and speakers at several events discussed the importance of preserving the state’s heritage and encouraging civic awareness among students.
The principal state-level programme was held at Baonar Paar Ground in Tarakeswar, Hooghly district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the event and addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he referred to West Bengal’s contributions to India’s cultural, intellectual, and social development.
The programme was presided over by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. According to organizers, participants from different districts attended the event.
Programmes marking the occasion were held in various parts of the state, reflecting public participation in commemorating West Bengal Day and its historical significance.
