President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi Extend Greetings on Buddha Purnima

New Delhi, May 1:
On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their greetings to citizens across the country, highlighting the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings.

President Murmu, in a message shared on the social media platform X, conveyed her wishes to the nation and followers of Lord Buddha. She stated that Buddha Purnima marks the birth of Gautama Buddha and serves as a reminder of his teachings rooted in compassion, peace, and non-violence. She emphasized that these values continue to guide humanity in addressing contemporary challenges and encouraged citizens to work towards building a harmonious and inclusive society.

Prime Minister Modi also extended his greetings, stating that the teachings of Lord Buddha inspire people to follow the path of peace, harmony, and compassion. In his message, he reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the ideals associated with Lord Buddha and called upon citizens to uphold these values in their daily lives.

Buddha Purnima is observed on the full moon day of the month of Vaisakha in the Hindu calendar. It commemorates the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, who later attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya and became the Buddha. The day also marks his enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana, making it one of the most significant occasions for followers of Buddhism.
